"Driving" Traffic To Your Website - More

Hello, eBook & tree lovers!

This is more on my original post by the same name. Remember I said for you to picture in your mind that your website is a "star"? And how you must find ways to go out and get people to come and see your "star" website? And maybe you've done that. Maybe you have gone out and connected with people, and you've been able to get some of them to click on your link and to view your website. That's really great! So now what? What do you do now?

You went out, and like a modern version of "Wagon Train", you guided all these wonderful people to your "star", to your website. And whatever it is you're "selling", the next step is to get these "prospects" to buy. Maybe you're "selling" an idea, a political idea or an idea for a "better mousetrap". You might not be asking people for money, but just offering them information. Or maybe you have a book that you want people to read. Whatever it is that you want people to see, you've done that. They visited your "star" website. But there are "billions and billions" of stars out there. How do you get these people to remember YOUR STAR?

Ask yourself: What is it about my website that helps people to remember it? What is most memorable about my "star"? And then ask yourself, and be honest with yourself: How can I make my star even easier to remember? How can I make my "star" even more memorable? This may take some thought, some concentration, focus. You'll want to take some relaxing time...

"Driving" Traffic To Your Site

People on the Internet are explorers! They want to go here, they want to go there. They want to check out everything! New internet explorers soon find ways to do this. They discover search engines. They find pages that are members of web rings. They continue to explore the subjects that interest them, and they look for other things that might be interesting.

If you're like I am, then you're still on a learning trip when it comes to driving traffic to your website. I'm to the point where I think about this all the time. Traffic, numbers of people visiting your website, is crucial to getting all those neat things on your website seen, getting your unique and important ideas across, doing whatever it is you want to do with that beautiful, awesome website of yours!

Here's how I like to picture it... A website is like a star. And like a star there are many "planets" in orbit around it. One planet might be a particular political or religious viewpoint you express on your website. Another planet would be the neat and professional advertisements you use to help promote your website. All these planets orbiting your star website. To you, it's right there in front of you everyday. To most everyone else, it's "out there somewhere".

So it's your job (nobody's going to do it for you) to drive traffic to your website. You might close your eyes and see this as an ultra-modern kind of "wagon train". There you are out in space. You've headed out to find people who are interested in the same stuff you are (or people whom you might be able to spark their interest). Your space tour bus is loaded with these people, and there are many other explorers in their own ships behind you, following you to your "star".

And when you get there, when you and your "space train" arrive at your star... SUCCESS! If you keep visualizing this, either the way I've just shown you, or another way that you create for yourself, if you keep picturing your bringing more and more traffic to your website this way, it will help you stay READY for any opportunities that come your way to drive traffic to your star website!

As I learn more and more about the internet, I find that about the only thing you can count on is that the internet is still in a remarkable state of CHANGE. It's still "morphing" almost daily, and this can be exciting or forboding. It all depends on your personal state of mind. So keep on optimizing and visualizing and looking for ways to show off your star website. And you will be successful!

Persistence, tenacity, perseverence (if you do these things, some people will call you "stubborn"--don't let that stop you, or even slow you down), just keep going on life's big adventure and never, ever give up!

Digital Editions and other stuff

In the beginning, blogs (web logs) started out being more like personal journals and diaries. Over time they morphed into, well, other things. I'd like to bring some of the journal-type stuff back into this place. It doesn't hurt to be more personal, does it? Oh, I'm sure I'll talk about my website and especially about Digital Editions (eBooks) and such. But this is a place for all of us who write about and talk about and obsess <g> about eBooks to unwind and relax. To be ourselves. No pressure. Just good music in the background and good company to be with.

I've been a little down, today. Feeling lots of pressure because of my personal situation. I don't want to burden you with the details, so let's just say I'm getting closer and closer to what might turn out to be a bad set of circumstances for me. It's been coming on, now, for several weeks. But I try to remain up and optimistic. Not always easy, that's all.

It always excites me to write about eBooks, though. I consider them to be the "wave of the future". People are becoming more and more aware that eBooks, or "Digital Editions" as I call them, are a coming solution to the growing problem of tree and forest guzzling by the paper media. Books, magazines, newspapers, and huge archives like the Library of Congress continuously grow and require more and more paper. Unless we want to become completely reliant on algae and other plant life in the oceans and seas for our oxygen, we have to find ways to turn this situation around!

Aside from all of the other benefits, trees are not just a source of background for our reading material. They are a significant part of what supplies us the air we breathe! And there are other advantages to ebooks and digital media. I have a webpage here that lists several of these benefits. And if you can think of any more, then I hope you'll share your opinions here.
